Stay home and relax on Black Friday, get some work done on Cyber Monday, and save your shopping for Fair Tuesday. Buy fair trade and start your holiday off right, said the Fair Trade Federation USA’s facebook page today.
If you are a conscientious, frugal shopper as I am, such statement would call your attention as you might be wondering where to shop ‘right’ these Holidays.
So, given the fact that Fair Trade is one cause that is close to my heart because of my work with the Chol-Chol Foundation in Chile for about 9 years, I thought I should share some of my favorite Fair Trade spots where you can find awesome, beautiful and life-changing gifts for these Holidays.
They do business in a way that allows small producers to receive a life-changing, positive impact in their lives and communities. Conventional business cannot do this most of times, essentially because they need to focus on gain and profit for the business.
Anyway, these are my favorites:
– Fundación Chol-Chol is located in Temuco, Chile and they work with Mapuche weavers and artisans since 1971. You can buy online on their website or in their two stores in Temuco. You can see many of their products available at the gift shop of the Temuco’s Regional Museum too.
– Voz is an association created by Jasmine Aarons a couple years ago and it’s working with Mapuche weavers exclusively in Temuco, Chile. Their products are beyond beutiful. Check their website here.
– Nature’s Karma is a Fair Trade store located in my city, Carmel, Indiana. I like their variety of products and prices. See for yourself, check their website here.
